Bernice Alvina Beyer

Bernice A. Beyer passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on August 5, 2022 at the Hospice House in Spokane, Washington. Before entering hospice, she had resided at Riverview Retirement Community for the past 15 years. Bernice was born on June 6, 1930 in Ritzville, Washington to George and Alvina Horch.

Bernice married Walter G. Beyer on May 7, 1949; she attended Eastern Washington State College where she graduated in June 1972 with her Bachelor of Arts in Education. She worked at Cheney Jr. High School as an English teacher and was also a bookkeeper.

Bernice enjoyed scrapbooking, quilting, and writing articles for Nostalgia Magazine. She enjoyed storytelling to her grandchildren, spending time at the cabin on Pend Oreille Lake and traveling with her good friends (JBOP’S). She was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran and St. Mark’s Lutheran Churches in Spokane, Washington.

She is survived by her sons, Warren G. Beyer (Cynthia) their children Cassie and Corina, Garry Beyer (Robbie) their son Alex, and Curtis Beyer (Molly) their children Billy and Katie; and five great grandchildren. She is proceeded in death by her husband Walter G. Beyer who passed away January 20, 2020, and Garry’s son Andy who passed on December 20, 2020.

Services will be held Friday, September 2, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Hennessey Valley Funeral Home, 1315 N Pines Road, Spokane Valley, Washington.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to Hospice of Spokane.
