Bruce W. Blethen, better known as Skip, joined our Savior surrounded by his family at home, on May 16th, 2022. The cancer he refused to give in to, finally had the last word. Skip was born in Huntington Park, California, on June 20th, 1944 to William Blethen and Lilly Suess-Blethen. He spent his early years on the Southern California coast with his family. One of his favorite places to be was San Clemente Island, California. To say that Skip was a fisherman is an understatement! His love of the ocean and outdoors was spiritual and he was always planning his next fishing, camping, hiking, or motorcycle trip. His passion for his family and friends was unwavering. If he called you friend, it was for life! He was an Ironworker for over 20 years and ultimately, found work that he loved as a Teamster with Local 399. He was preceded in death by his mother, father, and brother. He is survived by his wife of 24 years Sue Riener-Blethen, his sister, Adele Kirkman of Bellingham WA, daughter, Deanna Frint, two stepchildren, Jennifer Martin and Matthew Riener. He had seven Grandchildren and three Great grandchildren, whom he loved fiercely and considered them the best part of his life! This man was an amazing human being and will be missed terribly. The Funeral Mass is scheduled for June 10th at 12:00, at Our Lady of Lourdes Cathedral in Spokane, WA, with a reception to follow. The Committal will take place the same day, 3:00 p.m. at Saltese Cemetery. Donations can be made to your local animal shelter in honor of Skip and his love for animals.
