On April 17, the Lord called our beloved Craig Johnston home. He was born on March 18, 1961, in Spokane, WA, to Baxter Graham and Shirley Maxine Johnston. He was raised in Reardon and moved to Spokane Valley after the passing of his mother in elementary school. He was adopted by Judith Lorene Flanders who married his father. He was the youngest of five siblings. After graduation from Central Valley High School in 1979 he lived briefly in Texas and California before settling down in Spokane. He married the love of his life, Tammy (Bowen) Johnston on August 17, 1991. They were happily married for over 26 years and raised two wonderful children together. Craig spent his days teaching middle school in the Central Valley School District for the last 20 plus years. He loved to coach baseball, softball, and wrestling for his children and his students. His hobbies and passions included golf, wrestling, baseball, fishing, hunting, camping and traveling with his wife and children. He was well loved and respected by many people in the community and will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife Tammy (Bowen) Johnston, son Matthew Johnston, and daughter Rachel Johnston. Craig is also survived by his mother, Judy (Dick) Johnston Quass, three sisters, Cheryl (Phil) Conway, LaVonne (Ken) Turcotte, and Robin (Daryl) Olsen, his father and mother in law, Biff (Linda) Bowen, his aunt, Vida (Charles) Kelly, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by father, Graham Johnston, mother, Maxine Johnston, and brother, Scott Johnston. A memorial service will be held, Saturday, April 21 at 2:00pm, at Berean Bible Church (10910 E Boone Ave., Spokane Valley, WA). Memorial donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
