David Lee Rapp was born March 26, 1947, in Sunnyside, WA, to Howard and Genevieve Rapp. David died on November 10, 2022, in Spokane at age 75. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Linda; his daughter, Robin Ball (Marc) Spokane Valley; two grandchildren, Abigail Gooler (19) and William Gooler (16); three brothers, Dennis Rapp (Irene) Spokane Valley, Doug Rapp Hawthorne, NV, and Dale Rapp (Zina) Boise, ID; and many nieces and nephews.
At age 5, David’s family moved to Millwood, WA, where he attended kindergarten. He soon became a big brother to Dennis, Doug, and Dale. At an early age, the family moved to Greenacres, WA, where David was involved in Boy Scouts and grew up loving the outdoors, especially rock-hounding.
David began his music career in elementary school playing the clarinet, which became a lifelong passion. David graduated from Central Valley High School in 1965. He continued his education at Eastern Washington State College, which propelled him to become a music educator in Spokane for 30 years.
David joined the 560th Air National Guard Band in 1970 and retired after 34 years. During his service, he played the clarinet, mentored many band members, and was a drum major for several years. In addition, the Air Force took him on travels around the world. He retired as Senior Master Sergeant.
David had many interests and loved traveling with Linda to new places.
David faithfully attended St. Mary’s Catholic Church, where he sang with a small group at Saturday night mass.
David and Linda cheered on Gonzaga Women’s Basketball for many seasons, where David often led the singing of the National Anthem.
David is preceded in death by his parents and his son, Bruce.

Services will be held Friday, November 18, 2022, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 304 S Adams Rd, Spokane Valley, WA. Rosary will be at 10:30 am, Funeral Mass at 11:00 am. A luncheon will be held at St. Mary Gym following the service. The Inurnment will take place at Pines Cemetery at 2:00 pm on Monday, November 21, 2022.
