Doris Brunelle Manfred, 94, passed away on December 22, 2018 in Spokane, Washington. She was born on September 9, 1924, in Williston, North Dakota, to Nick and Ida (Kolodzik) Andre. Doris graduated from high school in Williston. In 1945, Doris married Charles Brunelle in Boston, Massachusetts, and together they had seven children. After her first husband passed away, Doris was remarried to Sam Manfred in 1975 in Spokane.
Doris was active at St. Paschal’s Catholic Church. She enjoyed traveling; a highlight of her travels was her Medjugorje pilgrimage. She will also be remembered as an avid gardener.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings; her husband Charles; her husband Sam; and her stepson Rick Manfred. She is survived by her sons Gary (Susan) Brunelle, John Brunelle, Steve (Kim) Brunelle, and Kevin (Jennifer) Brunelle; daughters Barbara Murphy, Elaine George, and Jean Goulart; step-children Harold Manfred, Pam McIntyre, and Don Manfred; 29 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren.
A Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 3, 2019, at Hennessey Valley Funeral Home, 1315 N. Pines Rd, Spokane Valley. The Rosary will then follow at 7:00 p.m. also at Hennessey Valley. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, January 4, 2019, at St. Paschal Catholic Church, 2523 N Park Rd, Spokane Valley. Doris will be interred at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery following the mass. A Celebration of Life will be at the VFW, 212 S. David, following the graveside service.
