Dorothy Elizabeth Vaughn

Dorothy Elizabeth Vaughn, a 34+ year resident of Spokane Valley, passed away at home on Wednesday, June 16, 2021. She was born to Gilbert James and Doris Claire (Ray) Swaner in Iowa City, Iowa on March 14, 1937. Dorothy was a longtime parishioner at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. She was creative and enjoyed crocheting, quilt-making, and gardening.

Dorothy is survived by her husband of 64 years, Lewis Eugene Vaughn, Sr.; son, Thomas Eldon Prater; daughters, Theresa Lynn Williams, Deborah Elizabeth Parker, Marilyn Denise Lemis, and Catherine Marie Mathis; brother, Stephen Ray Swaner; sister, Susan Marie Lawrence; 12 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; and 5 great-great grandchildren.

A viewing will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 23, 2021, at Hennessey Valley Funeral Home, 1315 N. Pines Rd, Spokane Valley. The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 24, 2021, at Hennessey Valley Funeral Home. Dorothy will then be laid to rest at 12:00 p.m. at Spokane Memorial Gardens.
