Jeanne Lee George passed away peacefully Wednesday, March 23, 2022 of complications resulting from several strokes. Born September 16, 1946 and raised in Portland, Oregon, she graduated with honors from Marshall High School and went on to attend the University of Oregon, home of her beloved Oregon Ducks football team. It was at U of O she met Tony George, whom she married in 1966. Although the marriage ended in 1975, it resulted in her two children, Chris and Jeni.
In the early part of her career, Jeanne worked as a real estate relocation director, moving to many locations around the Portland and Seattle areas. Her dream of a college degree was realized in 1991, earning two Associates Degrees from Portland Community College. Around the year 2000, she became a credit manager, which became her career and passion for the remainder of her life, and ultimately brought her to the eastside of the state to be closer to her cherished grandsons. She worked for many different companies throughout the Spokane area, and was a member of the National Association of Credit Managers, (NACM), an organization to which she devoted much time and energy. Independent, outspoken, kind and honest, Jeanne loved her grandsons, her cats and reading. There was always a book close by and the library was her favorite place.
She loved museums and history, and throughout her life always tried to learn new things and broaden her mind. An admirer of musicals, art and collecting beautiful things, Jeanne enjoyed travelling to new places, experiencing new cultures and unique foods. Her quirky, spirited personality and lively debates will be missed by those that loved her.
Jeanne was preceded in death by her parents Kenneth and Marie Moran; one brother Craig Moran, and her three beloved cats Bill, Bob and Clyde. Jeanne is survived by one son Chris George of Bend, Oregon; one daughter Jennifer (Brian) Strampher, of Post Falls, Idaho and three Grandsons, AJ, Justin and Brett. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, April 24, 2022, beginning at 1 p.m. at Hennessey Valley Funeral Home. The family requests Memorial Gifts go to the Vanessa Behan Crisis Nursery.
