JoAnne M. Van Orman Stejskal (Everts), of Spokane, Washington passed away on Thursday, March 24, 2021 at the age of 80 years old. After months of failing health, she died peacefully in the Spokane Hospice House. The family expresses their thanks for their loving care given in her final days.
Born in Missoula, Montana, the family moved to Spokane. As a lifetime Spokane resident, JoAnne attended Central Valley High School, became a mother to (3) three children then later attended Spokane Community College and became a florist/horticulturist. She was an accomplished seamstress, painter, community volunteer with Lions Club, COPS Volunteer, Hillyard Steering Committee but was known as Coach to many in the Eagles Association Swim Team. Becoming an incredible advocate for her sons in sports, she became the cheerleader for their successes whether it be swimming, football, cross country, or boxing. Breaking the glass ceiling, JoAnne was the first woman to become an officiate judge in AAU Boxing.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Ernest Everts & Leona Letsinger, and brother Kenneth Letsinger.
She will be greatly missed by both family and friends. JoAnne is survived by her sisters and brother-in-law, Jackie Everts & Judy Carney (Mike) as well as by her sons and daughters-in-law, Lane Van Orman (Cindy) of Spokane Valley, Darren Van Orman (Wendy) of Liberty Lake, Clinton Van Orman (Bunny) of California.
Her legacy left behind will live on as she was a grandmother to (8) grandchildren (Alisha, Jennifer, Amber, Dustin, Jeremy, Cameron, Clay & Jessica), and Great Grandmother to (11) great grandchildren (Chloe, Lucas, Peyton, Ellie, Clementine, Euwen, Billeigh, Silas, Helena, Isaac & Holden).
There will be a graveside service held on Friday, April 9, 2021 at 4:30 pm at Pines Cemetery located at 1402 S Pines Rd in Spokane Valley, Washington.
