Tribute

 John Fitzpatrick Lindsay passed away on December 2, at the age of 81 at his home in Spokane, WA  (7/1/40 - 12/2/21).

John was born in San Francisco on July 1, 1940, and raised in an orphanage in Great Falls, Montana.  He was adopted at the age of 15 to a loving family by the name of Lindsay, lived in Butte, Montana and graduated from Butte High School.   One of his first jobs was working in the Birkley Pits.  He married Carolyn Sullivan and later moved to Spokane, WA and worked at Goodyear Tire for many years.  While in Spokane, he raised 4 children, who were the light of his life. He was extremely proud of all of them .   John was a very loving and giving father.  He later met Terry Bateman and they shared over 42 yrs together. He became a loving and generous step-father to her two daughters .

After many years of research and work, John was able to make contact with his birth mother and family which was an important event in his life.

As an enterprising  business man, John built up Playfair Tires then Hillyard Tire Center into a cornerstone business which is still thriving today.  He was well respected in the tire business and was known as a big man with a big heart and as a good friend.

John was always looking forward to the next business adventure. When He was not working, John loved watching Gonzaga Basketball, WSU football, Seahawks, Mariners, spending time at Northern Quest Casino and spending time with his family and lots of great loyal employees who were just like family.  Christmas was John’s favorite time of year and looked forward to celebrating with all the people he loved. 

John will be missed by his wife, Terry, his three daughters: Terese (Eric), Tracie (Bud), Tabrina, and his son Todd (Cheryl), and stepdaughters: Tamara (Mike), Stacy (Matt), and 13 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and many friends and employees.

 

A service to honor John’s life will be held at St Aloysius Church, January 8th at 10:00 AM.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to Shriners Children’s Hospital.
