John Paul Maheu, age 52, born December 14, 1965 in Nashua, New Hampshire, passed away from cardiac arrest in Spokane, Washington, Thursday morning July 19, 2018. John and his fiancé Melody Keim were traveling from Oregon planning on a 5-day cross country trip, on their move to Delray Beach, Florida.
John was born to Therese Dube Maheu and Lionel Maheu, they moved to Florida when John was two. He grew up surrounded by many aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends. John loved & cherished his family and friends so very much.
John was a passionate, accomplished drummer / percussionist. His friends knew him as Johnny May, his fellow musicians called him Johnny Bullet for his lightning speed on the drums. John will always be remembered for his music.
On his down time, he enjoyed off road motorcycling.
In 1983, John began his career as a Volunteer Fire Fighter with his cousin Archie Maheu, at Baily Road Fire Dept. Several years later, he went to work with a consulting engineer company in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, specializing as a Land Mapping Surveyor for 15 plus years. He then moved to Oregon and continued his career as a Land Mapping Surveyor.
Surviving relatives include: two sons Joseph Maheu and Anthony Avalle; two brothers Philip Maheu, Tony Maheu; one sister Adele Maheu Christoff, brother-in-law Richard Christoff & niece Taylor Christoff; two grandchildren Kahlin & Alexis Avalle; four nieces Melissa Lambert, Carla Lambert, Bridgette Maheu, Selytia Maheu. John was preceded in death by Parents Therese Dube Maheu, Lionel Maurice Maheu, brother Daniel (Danny) Maheu, and nephew Lee Maheu.
