Joseph Bradley Seward 83, of Spokane Valley passed away peacefully on July 16, 2022. He was born in High Point, North Carolina on July 2, 1939 to Gray and Janie Seward.  He was the youngest of 8 siblings and had many stories to tell of growing up on the farm. He graduated from high school in 1957 and enlisted in the Air Force. During his Air Force career he worked in Communications and missiles. He lived all over the world.  He served two tours in Vietnam and was also in Guam, the Philippines, Okinawa, Greece, Hawaii, Maryland and he retired in 1979 at his last assignment in England.

He married his beloved wife Shirley Joanne (Baldwin) Seward in 1962 in Moses Lake, WA. They raised their three children all over the world before settling in Washington State. After retiring from the Air Force he attended WSU and then was hired on with the State of Washington in their Telecommunications Division in Spokane where he worked for 20 more years before retiring again in 2003.

Joe loved God, his family and his country.  He also loved animals and nature.  He was funny, smart, kind, friendly and generous. Joe is preceded in death by his parents, 6 siblings and his son, Stephen Ray Seward.

He is survived by his wife Shirley, his daughters Gayla Clarkin (Tom) of Wichita Falls, TX, Jennifer Edmonds (Eric) of Coeur d’Alene, ID, 6 grandchildren: Corey, Courtney, Megan, Benjamin, Elisabeth and Nathan, 4 great grandchildren, his sister Joan Mabe Putnam of North Carolina and many nieces and nephews. Joe was loved by all and will be greatly missed.

He will be laid to rest at the Washington Veterans Memorial Cemetery on August 12.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Disabled American Veterans (DAV).
