Born September 29, 1938 in Everett, WA to Harold and Mildred Jacobsen, Joy B. Whitney went peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, May 23, 2023 in Spokane Valley, WA. In 1956 after graduating from Everett High School, Joy went to work at Simpson Paper Company. During this time, she met the love of her life, Roy, on a blind date, and they were married in 1958. She worked at Simpson Paper Company until she became pregnant, becoming a stay-at-home Mom and raising her four boys. Vacations were often spent camping and Saturdays were spent at the ball fields watching her boys participate in sports. When Roy retired, they moved to Spokane, Washington where they lived the rest of their lives. Joy loved the Lord. Throughout their lives Joy and Roy attended several different churches, of which Joy was very involved in several ministries. She and Roy taught classes and formed prayer groups that provided everyone with strength and encouragement. Joy was a member of the churches quilting group, donating many quilts for special causes. Joy also enjoyed needlepoint, sewing and stamp collecting was a favorite among her hobbies. Joy was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Roy; parents Herold and Mildred; sister, Audrey; brother, Ron; and her son, Steven. She is survived by her sister, Lana; daughter, Patti; two three sons Jeffrey (Ronnette), Brent and Darryl (Mary Lou); eight Grandchildren Jennifer, Jason, James, Claire, Justine, Mason, Michael, Mya and seven Great-grandchildren. In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Union Gospel Mission of Spokane. To share memories of Joy and leave condolences for the family, please visit Joy's Tribute Wall.
