Juanita "Chickie" Saccomanno Planck (Pizillo, VanValkinburgh) passed away peacefully at the age of 89 on April 5, 2018. She was born October 8, 1928, in Sandpoint, Idaho, to Rudolph and Valena Saccomanno and attended school in Priest River, Idaho. After finishing school she moved to Spokane and began her career at Armour Meat Packing, Low Cost Grocery and retiring from Rosauers Super Market after 30 years as a meat wrapper. She was always busy with friends and family, traveling, cruising, gardening, or trying something new. Every September she worked the Shriners Elephant Ear Booth at the Interstate Fair, and in November she worked the annual American Italian Spaghetti dinner. She spent many hours volunteering at the Valley Eagles and her church. Survivors include her daughter Sandra (Larry) Johnson, granddaughter Shelley (Travis) Thams, great-grandchildren Parker and Addison Thams, all of Spokane. Stepson Richard (Debbie) Swearngin, grandchildren Chris, Richie (Rhiannan), Caleb (Bryn), Camberia Swearngin, great-grandchildren Chayawna, Caitlyne, Richelle, Rayden, Rilynne, Rhegah, Nolan, Caliber, Gunner, all of Springdale. Stepson Darin, Dean (Jania) Planck, stepdaughter Kendra Planck, all of Spanaway, Washington. Stepson Les VanValkinburgh, brother-in-law Stan VanValkinburgh. Nephews she raised Dwayne and Joe McGraw. Many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Proceeded in death by her husband Stan, her parents, her brother Rudy and sister Louise Saccomanno. Rosary will be April 26, 2018, at 6:30 pm. Funeral Mass April 27, 2018, 10:00 am, both services at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 304 S Adams Road Spokane Valley. Memorials can be made to Heart Association, Spokane Humane Society, or a charity of your choice.
