Lillian Tomoe Smith

Born December 17, 1939 in Pearl City, Hawaii to Ralph and Elsie Uehira, Lillian Smith passed away Friday, June 18, 2021 in Spokane Valley, WA. She graduated from the University of Hawaii and later received her Masters of Education from Lesley College Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Lillian lived and taught in many unique places throughout her life from Germany to Japan and Okinawa. Lillian married Lloyd Smith in Honolulu, Hawaii on August 11, 1968 but it was in Spokane that they settled and she taught school for many years. Outgoing, friendly and a wine connoisseur, Lillian loved arts and crafts, traveling, reading books, and movie watching. She is survived by her daughter Lani Smith of Spokane Valley, WA; One brother Walter Uehira of Hawaii and one sister Evie Kalapodes of Hawaii. A Memorial Service will take place Friday, August 27, 4:00 p.m. at Hennessey Valley Funeral Home 1315 N. Pines Rd., Spokane Valley followed by a reception. The Committal is scheduled for a later date at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific in Honolulu, HI.
