Margie Kay Stumbaugh

April 15, 1951 ~ April 6, 2021 (age 69) 69 Years Old

Tribute

Margie K. Stumbaugh, a 30-year resident of Spokane Valley, passed away at home on April 6, 2021, just days before her 70th birthday. She was born on April 15, 1951 in Seattle, Washington and adopted by Archie and Dorsey (Reed) Powell. Forty one years later she was able to successfully reunite with her birth mother Mary (Hart) Ballou. She was forever grateful to her parents who raised her and to her biological mother for choosing to allow her to live and be adopted.

Margie graduated in the Class of 1970 from West Seattle High School and went on to earn her Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education from North Seattle Community College in 1975. Margie married Adrian Dean Stumbaugh at Queen Anne Baptist Church in Seattle on February 14, 1976. The adventurous newlywed couple enjoyed hiking together and in June 1976, they set out on a cross country bicycle trip from Seattle to Virginia Beach, VA. They lived in Seattle until 1980 when they moved to Yakima. Margie and Adrian then made Spokane Valley their home in 1991.

Margie enjoyed gardening, reading, and spending time with her family. She also worked as a preschool teacher for over 45 years, touching the lives of children who lived in her community. Margie was a longtime member at New Hope Bible Church in Spokane Valley.

Margie had a love for her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, for her family, and for children, which truly defined her life. She always offered a hug to everyone she came in contact with. She will always be remembered for her bubbly personality.

Margie is survived by her husband, Adrian Stumbaugh; son, Wesley (Ariane) Stumbaugh; daughter, Kelsey (Peter) Anderson; biological mother, Mary (Ernest) Ballou; sisters, Patricia Powell (Chris Burkhardt) and Goldie (Mike) Roe; brothers, Don (Pam) Ballou and David (Judy) Ballou; and four grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 19, 2021, at New Hope Bible Church, 1445 N. Argonne Rd, Spokane Valley, WA 99212.

Adoption played a critical role in Margie’s life. Therefore, the family suggests any donations be made to: Life Services of Spokane, 2659 N. Ash St, Spokane, WA 99205. Please share your memories of Margie on her Tribute Wall.
