Michael David Crewse

July 3, 1953 ~ June 17, 2021 (age 67) 67 Years Old

Tribute

Michael David Crewse - a treasured husband, dad, grandpa, brother, friend, and lover of God – left this world to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 17, 2021, after a hard-fought battle with bladder cancer. Through his battle with cancer, Michael didn’t complain because he knew everything was okay and didn’t want his family to worry.

Born to Roger and Dorothy (Koch) Crewse on July 3, 1953 in Tacoma, Washington, Michael grew up in Monument, Colorado and graduated from Lewis-Palmer High School. He went on to study horticulture at Colorado State University and became a landscape artist and horticulturist, opening his own business – Crewse Landscape Service.

Michael met Shannon Davis in 1978 and they married in 1980 at the Rockford Methodist Church. Together they had a beautiful daughter, Jillian, in 1982. Rockford was home until they moved to Spokane Valley in 2015.

Michael was very involved with a religious retreat group called Walk to Emmaus or Walk with Christ. He loved going to church, but the best part was the food and fellowship after the service. He simply liked being around people. He loved people – with food. Cooking was something he did for enjoyment. The more people he fed, the happier he was. Michael would chef with 6 or 7 helpers at the retreats, serving about 100 people for three days. He did this many times over the years.

Michael will also be remembered for his fun personality and great sense of humor, especially his sarcasm. Singing was also an important part of his life. He sang in the choir for years. Though his voice wasn’t the most fine-tuned, he sang from deep in his soul, which filled with pure joy from God. His energy and enthusiasm for singing to God simply made him glow.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Roger and Dorothy Crewse; and grandparents, Percy and Delores Koch and Henrietta and Glen Crewse. He is survived by his wife, Shannon Kay Crewse; daughter, Jillian Louise Seubert (Mark); brother, Randy Crewse; and grandson, Tristan Michael Seubert.

Michael loved cooking with the Women’s Club and the ladies in the club loved cooking alongside him. In honor or Michael’s love for cooking, a lunch will be served by the Women’s Club at Noon on Sunday, July 11, 2021 at the Rockford Park. Following lunch, a memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. at the Rockford Park.
