Tribute

Monique "Moni Bug" Rachelle Fiander Erickson was born in Bethesda, Maryland on June 6, 1968 and entered into the loving arms of Jesus on October 29, 2018 in Spokane, Washington.  Moni grew up on the Yakama Reservation in a loving home with her Mom, Gramps, Gram and brother Michael (Sonny).  She was surrounded by rambunctious, happy, crazy cousins - and not without some competition.  She has remained especially close to her cousin Tammy (The Butt Sisters - Beulah and Bertha).  She had many "moms" and "dads" due to the close knit family environment with much love and care from many aunts and uncles.  She attended White Swan Schools, graduated from Davis High School in 1986 and attended Spokane Community College.  While in school she enjoyed and participated in volleyball, softball, track and cheerleading.  In her adult years, Moni enjoyed swimming, horseback riding, hiking, camping, shopping, cooking from scratch, trying out new recipes (exploration and discovery), music concerts, dancing, singing and watching football with her husband (she was an avid Seahawks fan, cheering on her boy "Rusty").  She was an enrolled member of the Yakama Nation and Roman Catholic Church.  Moni had a very big heart and was willing to help anybody.  She had a way to light up a room and make you feel special with her smile and laugh.  Moni's family for generations has believed strongly in religious conviction, commitment to education, and work ethic.  She always strived to support herself and contribute to the family household.  Moni was a loving wife and mother. Her pride and joy were her three beautiful children (The 3G Network), two step children and beloved dog Auggie.  Moni is survived by her loving husband:  David Erickson; children, Gabriella (Ellie Bug) Gamboa, Gracienne (Peanut) Gamboa, Gage (Sonshine) Fiander; stepchildren, Joshua (Dawayne) Erickson and Amanda (Mandy Jo) Erickson; mother Shirley Fiander; brother Michael (Sonny) Fiander (Kimberly Galaviz). Moni had many friends and relatives, too many to mention, but she loved you all.  She was preceded in death by her father Michael  Narducci and grandparents Henry and Theresa Fiander.  The family would like to thank the magnificent staff at Sacred Heart Medical Center for their tender and loving care.  Special thanks to Debbie Erickson for spiritual and emotional support throughout as well as helping David and Gage care for Moni during the last several months.  Moni was an avid animal lover who cared about the care and treatment of all animals.  A Rosary Vigil is scheduled for Thursday, November 8th at 7 p.m. followed by a Funeral Mass and reception Friday, November 9th at 10 a.m. at St. Peter's Catholic Church, 3520 East 18th Ave., Spokane, WA  99223.  We ask in lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Spokane Humane Society. 6607 North Havana St., Spokane, WA  99217 https://spokanehumanesociety.org/
