Tuong Van Nguyen

Tuong Van Nguyen was born on July 15, 1947 in Vietnam. His favorite sports were soccer and volleyball. During his time in college he became one of the star players for the volleyball league. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree and joined the Southern Vietnamese Special Forces after graduation. He married the love of his life Diep on October 26, 1969 and gave birth to their first child in 1973. After the fall of Vietnam he was placed in reeducation camp for 9 years. 

In 1996 he was able to move to Spokane taking his wife, two daughters, youngest son, and a dream to make his family's life better. He worked various jobs from washing dishes, cleaning and carpentry in order to provide for his family. His favorite job of all was a gardening job at the Rose Hill at Manito Park where he obtained the nickname "King of the Rose Hill" and won numerous awards. He loves to spend time with his family and grandkids. Through his perseverance and sacrifices his children were able to get to where they are in life. 

So to all who ask for the meaning of life?
From my father's point of view it's to build the long lasting relationships, to be selfless, to be kind to others and to be the best husband/father/grandfather that one could be. Diep, Tai, Lan, Hong and Thien all love you very much and will miss you dearly. 

Visitation times are as follows: Wednesday, January 23, 2019, 2-4 p.m.; Thursday, Jan. 24th, 2-4 p.m.; Friday, Jan. 25th, 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. all at Hennessey Valley Funeral Home, 1315 N. Pines Rd, Spokane Valley. The Rosary will be at 7 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 25th, at Hennessey Valley. The Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 26th, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, 2320 N Cedar St, Spokane.
