Virginia Lucile Warren

Virginia Lucile (Grunloh) Warren was born in Effingham, Ill. October 30, 1928 to Julia Lucile Dye and Francis J. Grunloh. Virginia was welcomed in to the arms of the Lord March 26, 2021.Virginia married and had 3 children, Robin (Rick) Sparrow, Frank Warren and Sean Warren (deceased.) She also has 7 grandsons, Pat Culhane, Sean (Keri) Culhane, Andrew, Jacob and Jared Warren, Harrison and Elliott Warren. Virginia has 2 great grandchildren, Isaac and Grace Culhane. Virginia’s children and grandchildren were the loves of her life.

As a young woman in the 1950’s, Virginia always had a beautiful distinctive voice. She worked as a radio announcer with her own show in New Mexico. It was a time when women didn’t have that kind of career, and she loved her work! Mom was always a very strong and independent woman. Virginia moved out to Los Angeles and worked as a screen writer at MGM in Hollywood. While at MGM she met John Wayne. She was Wayne’s biggest fan! She likes to tell her story of meeting John Wayne all the way up to when she couldn’t speak anymore. She’d still blush till the end of her life when showed a picture of John Wayne. She also worked at 20th Century Fox in Hollywood.Virginia has also worked at KREM and KSPS in Spokane.

Virginia was a life long Catholic and very involved with the Republican Party from 1973 until the end. She was straightforward in her beliefs and NEVER afraid to speak her mind. That was a trait in mom that used to irritate us but we also loved about her. Virginia gave her children the best gift she could ever give. She gave us the gift of the Catholic Faith and she made sure what we were learning in the faith was correct not a “watered down version.”We would like to thank St Joseph’s Care Center staff for the care they’ve given mom over the past 3 years, especially Sister Bernadette, May and Aura. Thank you to Fr. Ratuiste, Fr. Tracy and Msgr. Mee who came to give mom her Last Rites on her last couple of days in this life. We know she is very pleased with that! ◦ Virginia’s rosary vigil will be led by Fr Connall at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Lourdes on Friday, April 16, 2021 at 5:30 P.M. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr Robert McNeese and concelebrated by Fr. Connall on April 17 at 11:00 A.M. at Our Lady of Lourdes Cathedral in Spokane Wa.Virginia’s committal service is at Holy Cross Cemetery at April 17, 2021 at 2:00 P.M.
