Wilbert Melvin Dore

July 15, 1932 ~ December 8, 2018 (age 86) 86 Years Old

Tribute

Wilbert “Bill” Dore was born in Bottineau County, North Dakota in 1932. He grew up during the Great Depression and began farm work at an early age. Just after his 18th birthday he joined the Air Force and served in the Air Military Police in Japan.  After an honorable discharge, Bill moved to Spokane, where his parents had transferred.

He was a gifted mechanic who could fix anything. He began working for the Spokane School District and through night school he completed his welding certification.  After his retirement from the School District, he carried on his love of working with his hands by operating a home maintenance business.

Bill loved his family and enjoyed being out riding his Morgan mare, Bonnet, or traveling the country in his motorhome.  He never met a person he couldn’t befriend. He is remembered by his loved ones as their rock, a man of kindness, a generous caregiver, and a guy who loved a good practical joke.

A wonderful father and grandfather, Bill is survived by his four children and their spouses: Patricia (Chad), Colleen (Ian), Diana (Joe), Bryan (Marissa) and his four grandchildren and their spouses, Bob (Xuerui), Ann (Erik), Marissa (Michael) and Katie (Connor). Dad, Pop & Grandpa- we love you.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 15, 2018, at Hennessey Valley Funeral Home, 1315 N. Pines Rd, Spokane Valley. A rosary will be held at noon, prior to the memorial service. Inurnment with military honors will be at the Washington State Veterans Cemetery next spring.
